Introduction to the Amtrak Berkshire Flyer Train

Berkshire Flyer is a new intercity rail service offered by Amtrak. It first started service in 2022. Train service began in July 2022 through September 2022. Testing is expected to resume in the summer of 2023.

The Berkshire Flyer operates along the Hudson River Valley in New York State between New York City and Pittsford, Massachusetts.

What to Expect on Amtrak Berkshire Flyer?

The Berkshire Flyer runs 190 miles between its starting point, New York City, and its point of termination, Pittsford, Massachusetts.

This Intercity Rail travels at an average speed of 45 miles per hour. The overall trip from start to finish takes about 4 hours. The Berkshire Flyer runs trips2 trains per week and 2 trips per week.

Accommodations provided by the Berkshire Flyer

Berkshire Flyer offers coach seating for the majority of its passengers. There are also seats available for first class and business class.

This train also has no sleeper car due to the short trip duration.

The Berkshire Flyer provides food options in its cafe car.

The Berkshire Flyer starts in New York City and terminates at Pittsford, Massachusetts. In between, Berkshire Flyer makes the following stop at these central locations.

  • New York – New York Penn Station. This is where the Berkshire Flyer journey begins.

  • Croton-on-Hudson – Croton-Harmon Station
  • Poughkeepsie, New York – Poughkeepsie Station
  • Rhinecliff, New York – RineCliff Station
  • Hudson, New York – Hudson Station
  • Rensselaer, New York – Albany – Rensselaer Train Station
  • Pittsfield, Massachusetts – Joesph Scelsi Intermodel Transportation Center. This is the first and only stop in Massachusetts
